KEC attempts to showcase evolutionary research and its potential for solving current societal problems to the general public.

This is achieved through presentations of individual KEC members to school classes or the general public, for example as part of the Kiel university program at the Kiel week (Kieler Woche) or of the activities of the Schleswig-Holsteinische Universitätsgesellschaft (SHUG). Since 2009, core members of KEC are also organizing together with the Kiel Zoological Museum the Darwin day for school children from across Northern Germany. For further information, see links below.
